Died peacefully Saturday evening August 23, 2014 surrounded with love by family and friends.
He was a 7 year cancer warrior. Born Sept 7, 1944 in Ann Arbor to Clarence and Rosemary(Dean) Visel.
He moved from the Brighton area to Kalamazoo in the early 60's.
Rick had a passion for his family, as well as travelling, skiing, and following the Red Wings, Tigers and Nascar. He was a proud graduate of the Charter Class of KVCC and WMU.
He enjoyed several careers, the most recent being a Safety Compliance Specialist at Georgia Pacific and retiring from Kalamazoo Public Schools.
Survived by his wife Gertie Bax Visel of 33 years; 3 children, Marsha Grinnell (Daniel), Janet Sturos (Aaron), and Joseph; brother, Lawrence (Butch) and sister Rosemary; Grandchildren: Tonya Carrasco (Michael), Matthew (Tara), Sara Grinnell, Jolyn, Abby, and Lizzy. He leaves behind 6 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends. He was preceded in death by parents, brother Ronald, sister Linda and infant son Darrell.
