Condolence: It was so distressing to read of Joel passing. I was his supervisor when he worked at Camp Merrie Wood. He was a great guy and well liked by campers and staff. His contributions to the maintenance and smooth running of the camp were numerous. We were all sorry to lose Ranger Joel when he moved to Oregon. Cheryl please accept my heart felt condolence to you and your family.

Condolence: Joel was a always a friendly, good natured guy that will be greatly missed by us all. I especially remember the times in Oregon when we would spend holidays and camping together. Wonderful memories of our families together. A great caring husband, father, friend and brother-in-law. Our thoughts and prayers are always with you Cheryl, Amanda and Sunny.

Condolence: Joel was a wonderful neighbor to us at Pine Lake. We always enjoyed taking a walk by his house to see what he was working on. He seemed to always have a project going on up by the pole barn and was always open to a conversation when we stopped by. We were glad he could enjoy his retirement days doing what he wanted to do. We also enjoyed watching Joel and Cheryl go out on their pontoon boat and enjoy the summer days at the lake and enjoy their family. Joel spoke of God and was assured he had a place in heaven when he left this world. He was a good example to us all. Our most heartfelt condolences to all of his family. He will be missed. Joel's humor, good nature, generosity and willingness help anyone who needed it is what we will cherish. He's not really gone. He's in our hearts, in our minds and memories and he's just saving a spot for all of us who love him.

Condolence: Joel was a best friend to my husband, Dale, who we also lost to cancer in 2000. Joel and Cheryl moved to Oregon after we did and they were our surrogate family there. We spent many holidays and Sundays together . We missed them so much when they moved back to Michigan. Joel was such a funny guy, always cracking jokes and making me laugh. He was also quick to give a compliment. Even though we lived so far apart, I will miss him.-- Just to know there are people like him in the world. My heart goes out to You, Cheryl and to Amanda and Sunny.

Condolence: Joel is a very special friend to both 0f us and will be greatly missed. Joel and I have known each other for 40 years. Joel has a wit I will always cherish. Joel and I have a great connection he and I could talk for hours and yet it seemed like it only ten minutes went by. He is a person who was a great giver to anyone he came in contact with. I know he is in a better place and I look forward to seeing him again some time down the road.
