Obituary for Dorothy Evelyn Lounsbery (Meadows)

Dorothy E. Lounsbery, 92, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2016. Born on the family homestead in Hamilton County, Illinois on January 14, 1924 to the late Hessie (Sanders) and Robert Meadows (A Veteran of the Spanish American War). She married Wilford Lounsbery (A Veteran of World War II) on August 5, 1945, who preceded her in death. Dorothy was also preceded in death by her sisters, Cline and Marion, brother, Clarence, daughter, Susan Armintrout and daughter-in-law, Marilyn Lounsbery. Surviving are her son, Kent Lounsbery, granddaughter, Andrea Armintrout, grandson Zac (Christine) Armintrout, great-grandson Hudson Armintrout, and special friend, Connie Meeth who she thought of as a daughter.

Dorothy retired from the Galesburg-Augusta Public Schools. She enjoyed a very active life of golfing, boating, camping and socializing with her many friends. Later in life she resided in Florida and recently moved back to Michigan to be closer to her family. Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and grave site service is set for Thursday, 19th at 2pm at Fort Custer National Cemetery beside her husband.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Wings of Hope Hospice.
