Obituary for Virginia Alice Simone (Weld)

Virginia passed away Wednesday, August 03, 2016, at Bowman House in Three Rivers, MI, at 97 years young, just 40 days short of her 98th birthday. She left us like she lived her life full of spunk ! She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1918. She went to an all girls school in Chicago, Illinois. At some point she moved to Michigan and started her life in Three Rivers. Where she got married and had 4 children, twin girls and two boys. She eventually was on her own with her children and worked 30 years at Continental Can as a Quality supervisor until she retired in 1980’s. All the kids and grandkids loved when Virginia would bring paper plates from her work by the case loads as presents. She was a member of the Eagles & American Legion for many years. Even after retirement she kept busy running a paper route, doing meals on wheels, and we all joked but she was the master at moving ! She lived in Vicksburg, next to her daughter, Sandy, then Tennessee for quite a few years on her own near her son, Ronnie, and several grandchildren, and more recently in Schoolcraft near her other daughter, Pam, til early 2015 when she moved to Bowman House, these were just a few of her many homes throughout the years. She was always on the go, never letting the grass grow under her feet. Virginia loved her flowers, her birds, and most of all the many dogs she owned over the years. Her last one was Patrick and he was a true companion who never left her side.
She was always the life of the family gatherings with her stories of the past, and all the things she had seen and done over the years. She took many trips with her children, friends and grandchildren as they grew up. She was an adventurous woman to say the least.
Virginia was proceeded in death by her sisters, Marie Sardella and Patty Miller, her son, James Simone, and her parents, Anna (Godfrey) Weld and John F. Weld.
She is survived by: Pam Schug (Steve Haller), Sandy Dorbin, Ron (Sharon) Simone
Grandchildren, Jennifer (Joel) Gottschalk, Jason(Renae) Schug, Melissa (James) Bishop, David(Amy) Dorbin, Amy(Tony)Gerkin, Brad (Mindi) Simone, Michael (Nickie) Simone, and Jill (Richard) Shutts, Chesney (Chris) Hack.
Great Grand Kids, Tiffany Dorbin, Morgan & Collin Pace, Payton & Jadyn Gottschalk , Isabelle & Ashton Hack, Marissa & Cameron Wyngarden, Paxton & Gibsyn Gerkin, Kylie & Trevor Simone, Ambria, Rylande, Victoria Shutts, Seth Jacobs & Drew Simone.
Great Great Grandson – Bryten Wyngarden

Virginia’s only request was, “If by chance you wish to remember me do it with a kind deed or word to someone who needs you and I will live Forever ! “
Virginia’s wishes were very clear she did not want a funeral service with tears and sadness so we will bury her cremains as a family at a future date.
