Cooley, Herbert 4/28/1943 - 2/7/2017 Portage, MI Herbert Lee Cooley, 73, Portage, MI, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2017. Herb was born on April 28th, 1943 in Douglas, MI. He graduated from Gobles High School in 1961. Herb was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force from 1964-1968 with honorable discharge. He was an employee of Upjohn and Pharmacia combined for 30.5 years in Portage. He married Diane on May 26th, 1978. Herb and Diane wouldhave been married 39 years in May of this year. Herb loved spending time with his cherished family. He loved game nights, reading, karaoke, picnics in Upjohn Park, bowling and other activities. Herb had a great sense of humor, he loved to see people smile. At Herb's wishes cremation has taken place. The son of the late Herbert and Julia Cooley. Preceded in death by his brother, Eugene Cooley, in December, 2016. Herb is survived by his wife, Diane, and their two children, John Cooley of Kalamazoo and Kristin (Brett) McNeal of Vicksburg. Herb was a proud papa of Noah and Grady McNeal. Also, surviving are a brother, James (Carol) Cooley of Skanee, MI, Virginia Cooley (sister-in-law) of Minneola, FL, along with several cousins, nieces, and nephew and their families. A gathering in remembrance of Herb will be held at Bud's Bar & Grill, in Schoolcraft, from 2-5 on February 25, 2017. A Memorial service will take place in May, 2017.
