Obituary for Roger Alan Porter

Roger Porter lost his long battle with alcoholism on February 13, 2017. Born January 19th, 1957 in Chicago, Illinois, he spent his childhood in Illinois, but moved to Michigan as a teen. Roger graduated from Portage Central High in 1975 and went on to work many jobs before going back to school to earn his Associate’s Degree and become an electrician. Later, Roger married Deborah Edgett and together they had two beautiful daughters that they raised in Vicksburg, Michigan. Roger was an avid golfer and biker, enjoyed watching the Chicago Bears lose every Sunday, and taking the scenic route in his red Camaro. He also loved going to the Indy 500, a tradition he started with his grandfather as a boy.

Roger is survived by his daughter’s Mandy and Megan, his wife Deborah, and his loving and supporting family. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, George Harvey and Ruth Lucas.

A time of gathering for family and friends will be posted at a later date. Condolences may be left here or sent to portedge3614@aol.com
