Obituary for Elizabeth Alice Dusseljee-Kreling (VanderVeen)

Elizabeth (Betty) Dusseljee-Kreling

Betty went to be with her Lord on April 14, 2017 at the age of 90. She was under excellent care by the staff of both Medilodge of Kalamazoo and Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan. She was born May 5, 1926 to Jacob K. and Alice (Meyer) VanderVeen. She married James B. Dusseljee on July 10, 1947 until September 20, 1992, when he preceded her in death. Betty married Henry Kreling on October 15, 1994, until his passing on May 6, 1997.

Betty is survived by two sons, Dennis (Cindie) Dusseljee and Douglas (Catherine) Dusseljee; four grand children, Derek (Ashley) Dusseljee, Lisa Dusseljee, Jeffrey (Nicole) Dusseljee, and Laura (Jon) Walter; three great grand children, Oliver Dusseljee, Maci and Logan Walter; and several nieces and nephews.

Betty graduated from Kalamazoo Christian High School. She was a life long resident of the Kalamazoo area and retired from the Upjohn Company in 1998.

Betty enjoyed camping and spending her earlier retirement years in Florida. She also cherished time spent with family and friends. Her church and Bible reading were always an important part of her life. One of her favorite things to do was going for a ride and enjoying the scenery, usually ending the drive with her favorite ice cream cone or sundae.

Betty was a member of Calvary Reformed Church from 1973 until her passing.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Calvary Reformed Church, 7829 S. 5th St., Mattawan, Mi.
