Obituary for Lois Audrey Stuck (Greene)

Lois Audrey Stuck, 91, passed away on Friday, May 5, 2017 at Brookdale Assisted Living in Portage, Michigan. She was born on April 5, 1926 in Neenah, Wisconsin to David H. and Lucile (Watters) Greene.
Due to her father’s career in the paper industry, the family lived in a number of states early on but eventually settled in Kalamazoo. Lois went on to graduate from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1943 and Kalamazoo College in 1947.
On June 19, 1948, she married David T. Stuck. They made their home in Three Rivers, Michigan where Fibre Converters was founded in 1949 to manufacture laminated paperboard for automotive interior trim applications. In addition to raising three children, she followed her parents’ example of church and community service. She loved Three Rivers and served on many committees and boards including the Three Rivers Health Auxiliary where she and Dave started the annual Lights of Love campaign over 25 years ago. She was a Girl Scout leader and youth leader along with Dave at First United Methodist Church. They were fondly known as Mama Lo and Papa Dave. She loved the outdoors and was an avid gardener. She longed to be on or in the water, the rougher the better. The irony is that she married someone with a fear of water. She loved to tell the story about sailing with her dad and sister on Lake Michigan in rough conditions, in a canoe.
Lois is preceded in death by her parents, sister Joyce Rabbers, brother-in-law Blaine Rabbers, and husband Dave of nearly 65 years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She leaves to treasure her memory her three children, Gail Buscher, Jim (Donna) Stuck, and Barb (Rick) Allen; seven grandchildren, Chris (Laura) Buscher, Corinne (Sean) Laughery, Cathy Buscher, Laura (David) Posey, Bryan (Nicole) Stuck, Darci (Derek) Ridge, and Danielle (Justin) Montgomery; and eighteen great grandchildren. Her love, passion for the Lord, compassion for others, generosity, adventurous spirit, and zest for life greatly impacted those around her and will always be remembered and cherished.
A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, May 13 at 3:30 p.m. at Riverside Church, Three Rivers, MI. Family visitation will be available prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Three Rivers Area Community Foundation at PO Box 453, Three Rivers, MI 49093.
