Born May 20, 1924 in Kalamazoo Michigan, and passed into our Lords hands November 2nd 2017. Robert was proceeded by his wife Mildred in 2016, his brother Howard, his brother Carlton, his sister Genieve, and his parents Harold and Genieve. Surviving Robert is his brother David, his sister Delores, his daughter Marjorie and her husband PerArne Almgren. He had many nieces and nephews and was especially close to his nephew Howard II. Robert married Mildred Forney in 1955. He attended Kalamazoo Central High School and entered the United States Navy in 1943, serving aboard the US Milwaukee. Robert worked at the UpJohn Company for 34 years. In 1985 he received the distinguished WE UpJohn award. He was a member of the Kalamazoo County Sheriff reserve division for 26 years as their finance officer. In 1983 and 1990, he received the “Man of The Year” award. Robert served as the Climax Township Constable for 20 years. He was a life member of the Portage Masonic Lodge #340 F &AM, and the Eastern Star, Olympia chapter #274, a life member of VFW Post #1527, and a member of the Climax Scotts American Legion Post 465. He belonged to FOP for over 20 years. He also recently received a 70 year service pin from his Masonic Lodge. He and his wife are well remembered for their generosity and help they freely gave to those who needed it.
