Eric W. Forrester passed away peacefully on Friday, February 23, 2018 from injuries sustained in a car accident. He was born on June 27, 1968 at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo to Suzanne (Bachi) and Alexander Forrester. He graduated from Galesburg-Augusta High School in 1986 and from Western Michigan University with a B.A. and Master’s Degree. Eric is survived by his brothers: Scott C. Forrester of Kalamazoo, and Michael C. Forrester of Oxford, Michigan and loved by aunts, uncles and cousins. Eric worked for 16 years in the banking field prior to employment in elementary education.
He devoted most of his life to instrumental and vocal music education and/or performance. While in high school, Eric was a member of the Galesburg United Methodist Church where is sang in the choir, was in the youth group and went on several mission trips. He was involved with the Michigan Singers for over 30 years as well as the Kalamazoo Singers and Kalamazoo Male Chorus. Eric served at Gracespring Bible church by singing in the choir and playing keyboard in the praise band.
Visitation will be held from 5 – 8 p.m., Friday, March 2, 2018 at Gracespring Bible Church (8643 Gull Road, Richland, MI). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Gracespring Bible Church, Richland Michigan with Pastor Howie Ohman officiating. At the request of family, in lieu of flowers, contributions in the memory of Eric may be directed to the Michigan Singers ( www.michigansingers.org ) or the Galesburg-Augusta Community Schools Foundation, 1076 N. 37th St. Galesburg, MI 49053 ( www.g-aschools.org/domain/157 ) Please designate the Alex and Sue Forrester Scholarship Fund.
