Rice, Jon Clark 3/24/2018 Portage, Michigan Jon Clark Rice passed away March 24, 2018 after a long illness in Portage, MI. Jon was born in Detroit and lived most of his life on the east side. Jon was a graduate of Grosse Pointe High School. He attended CMU, graduated from Olivet College, where he played baseball and football. He then returned to GPHS to teach and coach for 31 years. He received his ME from Wayne State. Jon received MHSFCA and MHSCA Hall of Fame awards. Jon was the son of Jack and Vinelle Rice. Jon is survived by his wife of 50 years, Denyse, children Russell, Jane(Todd) Hook, grandchildren Jack, Kyle, Luke, Keeley, and Patrick, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Betsy and Leslie Cole. A celebration of life will be held at Grosse Pointe Woods Community Center on April 29 1-4. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. Jon loved being with family, was an avid golfer, and enjoyed traveling.
