Condolences

Condolence From: Bob Nichols
Condolence: Have known Harriet most of my life, but mainly indirectly through the Raffertys. In the last year, Harriet and I connected directly on Facebook and then in person. Watching her interact with others about Schoolcraft's history was more than a pleasure. She answered any and all questions that came her way, filling in the details, often with great flavor. What I loved especially was her trademark friendliness. It was infectious and we're all better off because of that. A huge loss for friends and family, and Schoolcraft.

Condolence: So sad to hear of Harriett's passing. She was one of the first to welcome me to Schoolcraft. She pulled up in her car, introduced herself and gave me a short history of my home. What a hoot! I just loved talking with her. She was a mainstay of this little village and will be greatly missed.

Condolence: I was so sad to hear about Harriet. She was a very special lady. Her smile and her laughter lit up a room wherever she went. Her knowledge of the history of the Village of Schoolcraft provided a vital link to the past and the beginnings of this little town. She will be greatly missed. Bill and I will be continuing to pray for the entire family.

Condolence: Oh, my heart breaks to hear of Harriet's passing. What a wonderful part of life on this earth. Always cheerful, interested and curious about people and things. She made history a daily experience, showing us how a part of the thread of the world story we all are. To say she will be missed is an impossibly weak statement. The world has lost a bit of its spark. I am so fortunate to have known her. She is a part of my life an story, too. -Kristina

Condolence: I taught with Harriett at Milwood Ele for numerous years. I was the “new kid” on the block and she was the seasoned teacher that everyone loved and all the kids wanted! She used humor, kindness, enthusiasm and integrity in her daily walk with kids. She turned them on to reading by picking out the good novels like “ Charlotte’s Web! She always had fun with the kids and was very creative. I never heard Harriett say and unkind thing about anyone. She was always positive and kind. I remember she would compliment me on a teaching technique and I’m thinking.... “Wow, what an honor.... the pro is taking time to give an accolade to a rookie! “. That was Harriett.... always positive.... always supportive. I remember when she first retired she came on the opening day of school with Barb Spigemyer and they were sitting on their lawn chairs, sipping a pop, reading a magazine and waving “ hello” as all of us poor working staff entered the buildings. I thought it was hilarious. She will be missed by all. I will never forget her kindness and lovely spirit!

Condolence: I had the Honor of taking care of Harriett's lawn for quite a few years. She ALWAYS invited me to "Come on in and have a seat" and would ask me what was "New and exciting in my life?" She was Bubbly, Knowledgeable, Interesting, and had such a Sweet personality. No matter where she was going or what she was doing she always seemed Happy, I would hear her humming to herself. I Miss You Greatly Harriett! Thank You for your friendship!
