James Stephen Olvitt passed away on Sunday January 30th. Jim was born on January 27th 1959 in Kalamazoo, Mi the son of Richard L. and Maxine R. (Peters) Olvitt. Jim was a graduate of Portage Northern High School. Jim married his High School sweetheart and moved to the Petoskey/Harbor Springs area where he started a small farm. While James lived "Up North" he was blessed with two loving daughters Angela & Rachel. Jim was very active in his girls life and instilled in them the love of learning. Jim had a great love of the outdoors and spent many days hunting, fishing and mushrooming. The family also spent much time at the Olvitt cabin on the Manistee River and all have great memories of these adventures. Later on Jim was very instrumental as the care giver to his Father which allowed his dad to stay at home until he passed. James is survived by his daughters Angela (Nathaniel) Lee of Virginia, Rachel (Teddy) Wilson & Grandson Gabriel James of Texas as well as three brothers Richard J. Olvitt of Portage MI, Thomas (Penny) Olvitt of Vicksburg, MI Jeffrey Olvitt of Harbor Springs, MI two sisters Karen (Thomas) Heeringa of Grand Rapids MI Mary (Todd) Jones of Galesburg, MI and many nieces & nephews.
