Obituary for Albert Arthur Weber

Weber, Albert A.
Passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at the age of 95, surrounded by loved ones. Al was born December 21, 1921 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late George and Anna (Schumann) Weber. He was the youngest of their four children. Orphaned at a young age he was raised by his grandparents Nicholas and Rose Schumann on their family farm. It was there he learned the values of hard work, integrity and the importance of family. His sense of humor and willingness to help anyone was well known to all.
During World War II he proudly served in the US Merchant Marine in convoys on the North Atlantic and the Mediterranean. On Thanksgiving day, 1944 in Cleveland he married Jean Marie Jordan and they recently celebrated their 72nd anniversary. Al worked as a union carpenter for the Cleveland school board from 1952-1957. After completing classes at the Cleveland Institute of Arts and the Cooper School of Art, he began his 20 year career as lead technical illustrator at Goodyear Aerospace in Akron Ohio. In 1977 Al and Jean retired to Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Al enjoyed working with boats of all kinds and was very pleased to get a job at the marina at Pier 66 hotel in Fort Lauderdale. His work ethic was exceptional and he was employed there for nine years. He had his own sailboat docked at the marina for a while.
Al is survived by his wife, Jean Jordan Weber, his daughter, Rosemarie (Frank) Jess; one grandson James T. (Vanessa Rarick) Katic; 2 great grandsons Michael and Zak Katic; and extended family, Tom and Kathy Stefaniak. He was predeceased by his parents; one brother George Weber; two sisters Laverne Meyer and Evelyn Meyer; and an infant son, Danny.
A private memorial luncheon will be held at a later date and internment will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Memorials in Al's name may be made to Talons Out Honor Flight, P. O. Box 280 Portage, MI 49024
