Maya Angelou said "people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Liggett made everyone she met feel that they were valued and they were her friend. She was so genuine in her wanting to know how you were and how your family was and had a great memory for everything you told her. She could easily strike up a conversation with anyone and always seemed to find some common ground. It amazed me that she seemed to know someone where ever she went!
Friendship with Liggett was easy. There were no expectations, requirements or conditions. Her love was unconditional. We may have only seen each other a couple times a year but it didn't matter. The friendship which began in college was as strong as ever. I feel blessed that I was able to see her a few more times this year when she attended my son's basketball games in Kalamazoo. We joked about who she would cheer for as he plans to play at Albion college next year. She assured me she could cheer for him as an individual and still cheer for Hope as a team. I will miss not being able to watch those games with her. I will miss everything about her but I know that I am better off having had her in my life.
She lived a life that was an example to everyone she met and I know she is now enjoying her heavenly rewards. I love you and I miss you Jenni Liggett!!
